Messaging before matching is 1 of our premium features on Tinder and a great way to show interest in potential matches. This feature lets you send a short message (140 characters or less) to someone who catches your eye before you both match. This way, you can start chatting and make your move to stand out to the people you're really into.
How to use it:
For some users, the classic Super Like feature is still available.
To attach a message to your Super Like
- Explore potential matches in Discovery.
- Tap the blue star icon
- Add your message, and make sure it stands out.
When you send a Super Like, your profile will be prioritized for the person you've sent one to. If they Like you back, it's a match!
To Send a Super Like Without Attaching a Message:
1. Tap the blue star icon while viewing someone's profile.
2. When prompted to attach a message, close the prompt.
3. Continue with the classic Super Like without adding a message.
We're also testing a new feature called First Impressions.
Some Tinder Platinum™ subscribers may have weekly First Impressions instead of Message before Matching in their subscription.
Not a Platinum member? No worries—some users can buy them in packs (though availability is still being tested).
To send a First Impression
- Check out potential matches in Discovery.
- See someone you like? Tap the plane icon.
- Type in your message, keeping it short and sweet.
When you send a First Impression, you get a chance to stand out to someone you're really interested in. If they're into it and Like you back, you'll match and can keep the conversation going.
Keep in mind
- Sending a message before matching doesn't guarantee they'll see it. Factors like their Discovery settings or age verification status may affect message delivery.
First Impressions and Super Likes can't be sent to potential matches who aren't age-verified.
