Speed Date is a live 1-1 video experience to meet other users in a virtual speed dating environment. This is available for Android and iOS in Los Angeles, California only.
Accessing Speed Date
If Speed Date is available to you, you can find it by following the instructions below:
- Open Tinder and tap the Events tab (previously, Explore)
- Scroll to find the Speed Date event tile
- Tap to enter!
Taking part in Speed Date
Speed Date will consist of consecutive 3 minute sessions with other users through face-to-face video chat. If you and another user hit it off, you can both opt in to extend the session!
Please note: Speed Date sessions will take place on a web app outside of Tinder.com. It’s important that you have a stable internet connection throughout to avoid dropping out of a session.
As these sessions take place on a web app outside of Tinder.com, please know that any updates to your profile must be made on Tinder directly. Changes to profile information (such as bio, workplace, photos) can’t be made within the Speed Date web app. This also applies to account deletion - you can delete your Speed Date account from the Speed Date web app, but this won’t impact your Tinder profile. To delete your Tinder profile, please follow the instructions found here.
Privacy & Safety
We’ve implemented a number of safety measures to ensure all participants feel safe while using Speed Date!
- Users must be selfie verified and their accounts must be in good standing in order to access Speed Date.
- Once you’re in a session with another user, the app will ask that you keep your face in view at all times or that specific session will automatically end. You’ll receive a prompt or warning asking you to show your face clearly before it ends.
- Sessions will automatically end if sexual content is detected, with these instances being escalated for review by our support team. More information on reporting inappropriate behavior can be found below.
- Screenshots and screen recordings will be disabled.
- For safety purposes, sessions are recorded and transcribed so that our Trust & Safety team can review activity that may violate Tinder’s Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.
If you encounter behavior or content that makes you uncomfortable or causes distress (including sexual content that’s not automatically detected), report the user through the session by tapping the ellipsis (3 dots) and following the instructions. Alternatively, you can end the session and report the user here. If a user is reported due to behavior in a Speed Date session, our Trust & Safety team will review.
Check out Tinder’s Privacy Policy for information about how we process your personal data. If you have questions about your Speed Dating data, submit a request and reference your Speed Dating account.
