Traveler Alert is a safety notification that pops up in your Tinder app when you open it in a location where identifying as LGBTQIA+ is criminalized. This alert is designed to help protect you if you're located in or visiting regions where your safety might be at risk due to local laws and societal views.
Traveler Alert notification while abroad
If you're in the LGBTQIA+ community and travel to a country with safety risks, your Tinder profile will be automatically hidden when you open the app. When you see this safety update, you’ll have two options:
- Don’t show me in this location: This option keeps your profile hidden from new people while you're in this area.
- Show me in this location: Choose this option if you want your profile to be visible and continue using Tinder as usual.
Traveler Alert notification while in Passport™ Mode
Traveler Alert isn’t just for when you’re physically present in a country. The alert also activates when you use Tinder’s Passport™ Mode to virtually visit areas where the LGBTQIA+ community could be at risk.
Note: Unlike physically traveling to a hostile location, if you’re using Passport™ Mode, your profile discovery will remain on unless you choose to turn it off.
