Double Date

Double Date is a feature that’s available for Android, iOS and Web users in select markets. Double Date allows you and a friend to match and chat with other pairs of friends.

Using Double Date

With Double Date, you can create up to 3 pairs of friends and swipe on other pairs of friends. These Double Dates will be shown to you in Discovery, in the same way individual that profiles are. The difference being, both people from the Double Date are shown side-by-side for you to view. 

When you match with another Double Date pair, a chat is opened between the 4 of you. Here you can have a group chat with your matched Double Date pair. You may also swipe right on an individual in your matched pair and open an individual DM for direct connection.

Please note: as Double Date is currently in testing, premium features and subscription benefits (such as Boosts and Super Likes) aren’t compatible at this time.

Finding Double Date

Double Date is a free feature that’s currently being tested in select markets. If it’s available in your region, please follow the instructions below. These apply for all platforms:

  1. Tap the Double Date icon on your Discovery or Messages screen
  2. Invite up to 3 friends to pair up with
  3. Begin swiping on other Double Dates

Creating a positive Double Date experience

We want everyone to have a positive experience using Double Date. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • It’s important that, when using Tinder, both you and your friend(s) in Double Date are aware of and each follow our Community Guidelines. Any violations of our policies can result in action being taken against 1 or both accounts in a Double Date.
  • If you or your friend encounter inappropriate behaviour in-app or IRL, please report this. You can review our reporting resources here.
  • Both you and your friend(s) must be at least 18 years old to use Tinder.
  • When chatting as a group in-app or IRL, always seek consent from your Double Date friend before you discuss any private details (including contact information).
  • If you would like to discuss sexual topics, make sure you have everyone in the group’s consent.

Customising your Double Date experience

Whether you’re on Tinder purely to find a Double Date for you and a friend, or if you’re not interested in seeing Double Dates at all, you call the shots. Double Date has its own settings, where you can customise the experience.

  1. Open Tinder and tap the profile icon Navigates to profile screen.
  2. Tap the settings icon Open settings.
  3. Scroll until you find the section labelled “Double Date”.
  4. Here you’ll find options such as highlighting Double Date profiles more than individual profiles in Discovery, or hiding all Double Date profiles completely.
